The Smart-E Loan program through the Connecticut Green Bank, is designed to help Connecticut homeowners finance 40+ clean energy home improvements, such as heat pumps, at 1-4-unit CT residences that are owner-occupied. Below you’ll find a step-by-step guide to help you know where to start and an overview of information related to the Smart-E Loan program, including current rates and term options.

The Smart-E Loan process:

Step 1 – Get a Quote: Reach out to a few Smart-E contractors** (see Contractor List in the chart below), get quotes, and decide which contractor suits you best.

Step 2 – Apply for a Smart-E Loan: Contact one of the nine (9) local Smart-E lending partners (see Lender List in the chart below) with your quote/proposal and apply for Smart-E Loan pre-approval.

Step 3 – Notify your Smart-E Contractor: Once pre-approved, alert your Smart-E contractor to provide the Connecticut Green Bank with the project details for technical approval.

Step 4 – Close your Smart-E Loan: Your chosen lender (see step 2) will be notified of project approval by the Connecticut Green Bank Smart-E team and reach out to close the loan with you.
